Support 22 yr old Victim of Human Trafficking in Malaysia

Dear Friends and Supporters,

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your continued advocacy and concern regarding Loan’s case. I also sincerely apologize for the delay in responding to some of you—please know that your support means everything during this critical time.

As of now, I’m relieved to share that my niece, Loan, is safe. She is currently in the Immigration Detention Center in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Her safety is being closely monitored, thanks to a trusted NGO partner who is actively advocating on her behalf. They are in direct contact with both Loan and the local authorities and are doing everything they can to ensure she is treated with care and dignity.

The NGO team is currently handling multiple urgent cases, so responses may take some time. Nonetheless, they are working diligently to relay pertinent updates as quickly as possible. Based on current information, it is expected that the immigration authorities will proceed with repatriation within the next two weeks—an unusually swift timeline, given that many cases face much longer delays.

While we are hopeful for Loan’s safe return, we remain deeply concerned about the broader situation. Many victims remain trapped in the grip of human trafficking syndicates, and our advocacy must continue on their behalf. We hope our collective voices will continue to shed light on their suffering and help bring more of them home to their loved ones.

I cannot thank you enough for staying engaged, for sharing your voices, and for standing with us through this journey. Your support truly gives us strength.

Unfortunately, there have been reported threats made toward our family in Buôn U1, our village in Vietnam. It is my understanding that the trafficking syndicates remain active in the region. For this reason, there is a serious concern regarding Loan’s safety should she return to the village. I am doing everything in my power to remain vigilant, to listen closely, and to reach out to the appropriate organizations, NGOs, and government agencies to address these threats and ensure her safety.

I hope to have more good news to share within the next five to six days. Our NGO partners are working tirelessly—not only on Loan’s case but also on many others that require urgent attention.

If you have any connections, resources, or potential partnerships that could support this work, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am happy to help facilitate communication with our NGO partners as needed.

Thank you once again for every action you've taken to bring visibility and support to this critical human rights issue. Together, we are capable of moving mountains. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

I wish you all a peaceful and empowered day.

Urgent Update on Loan’s Situation – April 10, 2025

We are deeply concerned for Loan’s safety and well-being. Her last contact with family was on Tuesday, April 8th. On that day, she was taken by the local police to the Immigration Detention Center in Patrajuya, Malaysia, for what was explained as routine paperwork.

However, once at the center, she was informed by authorities that she was facing a fine due to an overstayed visa—despite the fact that she is a confirmed victim of human trafficking. The police department that completed the initial investigation had already verified her status and provided supporting evidence.

Since then, her phone has been confiscated and the Immigration Detention Center has withheld all information regarding her whereabouts. This lack of transparency is unacceptable.

Loan’s family is growing increasingly worried about her health and safety. As a recognized victim of human trafficking, she is supposed to be under the protection of the Malaysian government—not facing punishment or confinement.

We are calling on the Immigration Detention Center to do the right thing. Human trafficking victims must be treated with dignity and compassion—not penalized for circumstances beyond their control.

Please help us raise awareness. Share this post. Raise your voice. And keep Loan in your thoughts and prayers.

Update on Loan's Situation:

Dear friends,
Thank you so much for your continued support and prayers. We’ve made significant progress in advocating for Loan, and your support is making a difference.

Loan is currently being held by the Malaysian Immigration Department, but we’re working diligently to ensure her safety and legal rights. We are urgently seeking medical care for her deteriorating health and fighting to bring her home. She remains unable to contact her family, but we are in touch with key organizations to ensure she gets the support she needs.

We are still raising funds for her legal, medical, and reintegration needs. Your generosity is helping us get closer to bringing Loan the justice and recovery she deserves. Please continue to share this campaign and help us amplify her story.

Thank you for standing with Loan—every donation, every share, and every prayer brings her one step closer to freedom.

My niece's Update:

Her mother shared that she was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year. She was lured into a job scam through TikTok, believing the opportunity would provide income to begin her treatment. Now, her family is deeply concerned about her health and safety.

It is of urgency that the Malaysian authorities address this concern—either by providing her with immediate medical assistance or by allowing her to return home to begin treatment. Time is critical, and any further delay could worsen her condition. Her family is desperate for answers and support, hoping that action will be taken before it is too late.

I am grateful for all the financial support that she received and continue to receive.

Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

I am reaching out with an urgent plea to help my niece, a 22-year-old woman from Vietnam who has survived the nightmare of human trafficking in Malaysia.

She has been rescued, thanks to our incredible partner org, an NGO dedicated to stopping human trafficking. However, her journey to true freedom and recovery is far from over.

Why This Matters
Human trafficking is a global crisis that destroys lives. Like countless other victims, my niece, a member of the indigenous Montagnard community in Vietnam, was lured by a false job opportunity, only to find herself trapped in inhumane conditions and forced into sex work. These syndicates operate with ruthless efficiency, preying on vulnerable individuals and exploiting them for profit. Thanks to swift intervention, she was rescued—but the battle is not over. She now faces legal, medical, and emotional challenges that require urgent support.

For safety reasons and to avoid interfering with ongoing investigations, we are withholding certain details and names to protect everyone involved. Our priority is ensuring my niece’s safe return home and securing justice—not only for her but for all the girls and women trapped in the horrific cycle of human trafficking.

How Your Donations Will Help
She needs financial support to rebuild her life and ensure her safety.
Every donation will go directly toward:

Legal Fees: Ensuring she has access to vigorous legal representation to navigate complex investigations, seek justice, and hold those responsible accountable.

No amount is too small or too large - every dollar brings her one step closer to justice, healing, and freedom.

Who I Am & Why I’m Doing This
I have fought tirelessly for her freedom for the past several weeks. From negotiating with traffickers to coordinating with authorities, I have dedicated every waking moment to ensuring her safe return. But I cannot do this alone.

She needs help, and I am turning to you—kind-hearted individuals who believe in justice, compassion, and the power of community—to stand with us in her fight for a new beginning.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your belief in a world where no one is enslaved. Let’s bring her home and help her reclaim the life that was stolen from her.

Donate today and be part of this journey to freedom.

Across the Sea Foundation is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) based in the US. Our mission is to preserve the Montagnard culture in Vietnam.
